Default Hate my new Motorola V600

I've had my work phone 'upgraded' to a Motorola V600 behind my back. Now,
I'm sure this is a really fab phone but at the moment I hate it. I've always
used Nokias in the past without any problems but can't get my V600 to behave
    itself.
Does anyone know how to make the thing stop beeping every time I press a
number? and don't get me started on the texting setup.

By the way, Martin, there is no mention of this in the manual.

Considering you are that thick it would be pointless telling you, however as
well as listed in the manual, it is obviously on the phone setup menus.
    durrgh!

Well breath it is , Key Volume is found under ring styles, soft detail.
    Hope that helps.

How many times do you have to be asked not to ask sector999 for tips on
    posting to usenet?

Take a chill pill and calm down, you're not doing yourself any favours by
    posting constant abuse.

Obviously the chill pills do not work, as you could simply ignore my

Yes, that worked, but in my opinion that is in a totally non-intuitive
place, my manual comes from Orange and it's certainly NOT mentioned in
there. Thanks again though, whenever I think of you I will think of what a
    true gent you are.

I was in the same situation. Had Nokias for years (both work and personal).
I replaced my own Nokia for a T610. Took some getting use to but I love it
    now.

My company has changed its Nokia 7110's for V600 - again a learning curve.

I wouldn't go back to Nokia - they seem to cater for kiddies with games,
torches and god knows what in their phones!

Cheers for that, I'm sure I'll end up loving it in the end, but at the
moment it's difficult to get it to do what I want

One of the things I like about my v600 is that it is not a nokia. I had no
problems with my nokias but if you have to do things a little different then
it feels new and worth the hassle changing.
Once you get use to it you will find the phone fine.

The ring styles, keypad volume etc can simply be changed under each of the
"syle details". With your styles setup correctly you can then swap between
them with the clam closed by pressing the volume keys and adjacent smart
    key.

The texting is good too. Maybe a little slower than nokias but again, once
you get use to it its fine.

Being able to put real tunes on as ringtones is good also. Singing and all.

There's nothing wrong with games on a phone (unless you're talking about
NGage - not really a phone though, more a game with phone functions.). I've
got a few on my NOKIA phone, and I find them an excellent way to kill a few
    minutes when I'm bored.

Not so sure about torches though, mind you it does make sense in a way, I
can think of a few occasions when a torch would have been useful (dropped
keys in a dark carpark...) and if my phone had one built in, that would have
been handy. On balance though, I think I would prefer to keep my torch and
    my phone separate...

Talking in general, personally I find Nokias very easy to use (granted,
almost all my phones have been Nokia, and I suppose it's what you get used
to) but I have borrowed a SE T610, and used my wifes Samsung A800 and found
neither as easy to use as my 6230.

    Cheers ;-)

Thanks , glad you could see thru the fog, in some respects it is where is
where i would expect to find it, if you imagine the keytones as a
'ringstyles' along with the startup sound.

Agreed, this is the way I felt when I started using the Motorola MR601,
couldn't see what all the menu fuss was about, and the handset had all the
frequently used items on a quick menu system, so most changes just needed 2
    key presses,

All phones are easy to use, it's not as if you need to enter some hex or
binary code to select certain functions.
I define easy to use as minimal key presses to perform simple functions like
silence, change lines, view missed calls, create a text. the early motos
    were best in that respect.

I find action man and Motos very robust.

Wish it was the same as 6 years ago, the quick menu system was tops. But
like Charlie says get a Nokia if you like bugs....
