Could you show what theme you have actually? Changing the theme in viewty isn't such a big problem at all. Just have to watch to not to delete some important system files![]()
I have an amazing look-a-like of vista on my KU990 which includes a start bar!
Im not sure we are aloud to post links to toher websites so i wont until i know im aloud lol
DO NOT POST LIVE LINKS ON THE FORUM
You can change theme of KU990 using EFS Media builder. Just copy new flash file for screen, and some other .xml file.
Details of these steps can be found easily using google.
As others have said, it's very possible but involves replacing themes that are already on the handset.
However, I've read something about a new tool being released soon called VUITE (I think) which should allow people to create new themes with little difficulty![]()
It is indeed called VUITE (Viewty User Interface & Theme Editor). It's in development and may well be for some time still due to LG's way of 'locking' the internal phone structure against editing. To find out more, Google it.
Why are we not allowed to post links to other sites? Is it because people might disown this one if they find a better one? No Offense, just curious - It seems a bit childish. Makes me wonder if I should ever point people here from other sites (Admittedly, they'd miss out if I didn't)!?

you will need to "hack" your phone
searh ku990 in yahoo uk and you will find your need
I think warranty is only invalidated by internal manipulation of the phone, if you freeze your phone by USB you dont kill the warranty.
I have heard that there is a "program" that is still working on to et us ku990 users to change themes easy, but i dont exactly know when it will be ready. Keep your ears open, and chek on google once in a wile.
it is actually very hard to change themes, you have to know how to operate a certain software before you can change your theme which sucks
Hi,
I have come across a step by step guide on how to change the theme on LG Viewty.
No email
Cheers,
Going to give it a try now!!!
Wish me luck lol

I have the Viewty Ultimate theme on mine, there is a theme manager program now available to make it easier to put custom themes on your phone.
I cant seem to find VUITE or the theme manager anywhere online, could someone message me with a link pls?
The funny thing is, to install the Theme Manager you have to go through the same process you would to just install a theme.
@Anybody having a go at installing new themes:
You NEED to spend an hour or so backing up your phone first so that any mistakes can be undone. To do this you'll need 'EFS Media Builder' and the 'How to back up Viewty files' PDF.
These files, as well as Theme Manager can be found here:

Hi,
Will, thanks for the link for EFS etc, has come in really usefull.
Now I'm stuck!!
I am trying to find out if it is possible to use the Black Theme BUT with the icons from the menus from the Silver Theme.
Is this possible??
I have looked through all of the folders using EFS, but cannot find them, Has anyone done this or can offer any help??
Many thanks
Pete

Oh God Pete, I knew you'd find the flaw. I'll try to explain though...
The main 'program' the phone runs is the NYX_'your network here'_MENU.SWF and as such all icons are included in this file and are a bugger to extract without any hassle. Short of just putting your theme as theme_bg2.swf there's not much of an easy way around it.
I've also noticed that people who do themes tend to concentrate on the 'desktop/wallpaper' and not the other files called into action, so if you design a nice black swf wallpaper (as I did) and stick it on the silver theme you still get a load of grey backgrounds on a lot of menus (and the calendar becomes unusable, black font on black!).
Anywho, DaveOrNoDave has designed a thingy called Theme Manager 1.1:Which is designed to help in 'hot-swapping' themes with the option of picking which icon set you want (black/colour) - Needs a Memory Card!Code:http://cid-b8650150652b0327.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/thememanager.zip
I haven't tried it yet (using my phone as a modem) but I will before the week's out and I'll let you know how easy (or not) it is to use. Till then, fingers crossed...
Hope this helps...
PS: Sorry if I waffle on - it's late and I'm annoyed at my flat-mate for disappearing for three days without notice...![]()

Hi Will,
Thanks for the link and information, I have installed the ThemeManager and it has most of what I am looking for, there is one problem with it, not sure if it is just me though! When you use dialpad, you cannot see the numbers you are entering!
Also, the switching menu does not work as it is beneath the options on the screen and by default these are selected instead of the switching option that you have tried to select.
Another thing, being really picky now! While navigating through the different menus/screens, it does have some elements of the Silver theme still embedded.
Now I have been looking through these forums for the past few days, and you seem to know what you are doing when it comes to the Viewty, can you tell if it just me being intilectually challenged!
I have Macromedia Flash MX installed and can change the swf files that are on the phone, BUT logic is telling me 'NOOOOOO', my curiosity is saying 'Go on, you know you want to'!!
I have noticed that you cannot change the Nyx_(operator)_menu.swf file, is this right????
I have backed it all up, and tried to rename it as Nyx_open_menu_old.swf so that if it does go all erm wrong! then I can just delete the one I have changed and rename the correct one back to how it should be.
Am I going on????
Too much coffee!!
Anyhoo, if anyone has any ideas or help I would greatly appreciate it.
OOOOOOOOOH, one more thing, then I will go honestly! Is there a program out there that you can use to make your own menus???
Hmmmm, that would be fun!
Thanks
Pete
Hi again,
Ok, sat in all day checking this out (see my previous post) Yes I have no social life!!
I have come across the LG Ultimate Theme, I now have this installed on m LG, with some tweaks (if you read the params.txt file then you can quickly see what to change) I think this is THE best theme I have tried, they have quite a few. Including the full iPhone theme, this is not just wallpapers etc. And yes the slider function does work on this one, BUT be warned, it is very slow.
The Ultimate theme for the Viewty in it's full form does have a slightly noticeable decrease in speed compared with the default (Snore!!) themes. But as previously stated, if you look through the params.txt file you can see what it acutally uses to function. So you can remove the remaining images/icons etc.
It comes with 15 images, I decided on just the 1, and removed the rest.
Give it a go, it's awesome.
I will ask the author of this them if it is ok to put a link on here (NOT LIVE! Don't panic lol)
Ok, babbling now because i'm excited (doesn't take much!)
If you want any info let me know.
Pete

Welcome to my world
I've decompiled every theme I've managed to get my hands on (Sothink's SWF Decompiler - and Flash CS - Ooooh! - Still can't use it!) so if you need any of the source files I'm more than happy to pass them on...
As for the constantly appearing remnants of the original theme, they tend to reside in the LGAPP>MEDIA>THEME>(0-2) folder, I think these happy go lucky theme 'developers' get obsessed with changing the 'desktop' and neglect the fact that other things are called into action. The mind boggles.
I'll whack that there Theme manager on today and let you know if it can be modified (Too many themes look nice but you still can't use the calender!). If I come back with harsh words then you'll know I've messed up
As for the 'Ultimate' Theme, I'll stick it on my page (Original Author: Seto - Decent Guy! - bless).
EDIT: Theme Manager 2.3's out (and it's a whopping 11mb - good or bad, dunno - still downloading it)...

Will Robinson
