3 gives free Twitter to mobile phone customers

Mobile phone customers of 3 are able to access free Twitter in February and March through the social networking site or apps on handsets including the Sony Ericsson T715.

Mobile network operator 3 has urged its customers to Twitter for free via their mobile phones throughout February and March.

Free Twitter is being offered to 3 mobile phone customers either via the website or through special apps on handsets including the Sony Ericsson T715, INQ Mini 3G and the INQ Chat 3G.

The offer is available until the end of March and mobile phone customers with an internet add-on can access the social networking site without eating up any of their monthly internet allowance.

"We want to make the internet as easy and affordable to use on your mobile as on your PC," said Charlotte Blanchard, director of products and services at 3. She added that its 3G network is built for services such as Twitter.

Last month 3 UK activated its 10,000th 3G site, which was connected in Shooters Hill, in south-east London, further expanding mobile broadband to more communities.
